What we know matters, but who we are matters more. Being rather than knowing requires showing up and letting ourselves be seen. It requires us to dare greatly, to be vulnerable.

TEACHING
As an instructor, Ashley strives to create a dance environment that promotes holistic flourishing. Although she loves to teach both tap and modern, Ashley is most passionate about ballet pedagogy.

Ashley utilizes lessons, combinations, and activities that emphasize anatomical and physiological structures to enhance students’ bodily awareness and proprioception.

Additionally, online instruction has provided Ashley the unique opportunity to integrate other dance-related content into her classroom. Her students have explored dance history, examined the role of dance within scientific research, gained exposure to cultural diversity, and have explored dance involvements beyond high school.

Ultimately, Ashley has found that her research background enables her to be the most effective teacher. Through cultivating analysis, critical thinking, and conceptualization, Ashley emphasizes her students' individual capacity to grow in their physical, technical ability, but more importantly uses these skills to instill confidence and self-assurance within her students.
